Westican Outdoors is a local recreation company offering a range of products and activities for nature enthusiasts.  Stephanie and Ross will be on hand today to introduce us to their story and their business.

Krystal Emory is a Kingsville Rotarian and the admistrator for our local chapter of Toys-for-Tots.  The annual Christmastime toy drive is sponsored in partnership with Texas A&M—Kingsville.  She will discuss the partnership's mission and how we can help this year.

October is End Domestic Violence month.  Jennifer Radcliff-Jones is the Director of the End Domestic Violence Task Force.  She will educate us on the movement and how we can serve.

Brenda Ballard is a Kingsville Rotarian and member of the Brush Country Chapter of the Coastal Bend Conservation Association.  The CCA dedicates themselves to preserving and restoring fish populations for generations to come.  She will talk about their work and how we can help.

La Pesca Lodge is a new, luxury hunting and fishing lodge on Baffin Bay.  Meghan Brodnax will tell us about this new addition to Kleberg County and the experience they provide.

The goal of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative is to complete the eradication and containment of all wild, vaccine-related and Sabin polioviruses, such that no child ever again suffers paralytic poliomyelitis.

Launched in 1988 after the World Health Assembly passed a resolution to eradicate polio, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, along with its partners, has helped countries to make huge progress in protecting the global population from this debilitating disease. As a result, global incidence of polio has decreased by 99.9% since GPEI’s foundation. An estimated 16 million people today are walking who would otherwise have been paralysed by the disease, and more than 1.5 million people are alive, whose lives would otherwise have been lost. Now the task remains to tackle polio in its last few strongholds and get rid of the final 0.1% of polio cases.

As World Polio Day approaches, we need your help to amplify our message about eradicating polio to protect the world’s children from a devastating disease.

We have made tremendous progress since the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was launched:

• A 99.9% reduction in cases of illness caused by wild poliovirus
• 3 billion children immunized
• 125 countries where polio was endemic reduced to two — Afghanistan and Pakistan — with the virus contained in just a few districts and provinces

But even just one case still represents one child’s life forever changed by polio. That’s why Rotary members must remain tenacious and keep our promise: We won’t stop until we know that no child will ever again experience the paralyzing effects of polio.

Let’s use World Polio Day to advocate for the support we need to make history by eradicating polio. Together, we end polio!

Rotary District 5930 will join others across North America for the World's Largest Polio Walk to raise awareness and funds to combat this disease.  Walk or run wherever you are.  Walk your neighborhood, local park, with your local Rotary Club, neighbors or friends!

By late afternoon Saturday, October 24, Rotarians from across South Texas will be pulling into Kingsville on their route to raise funds and awareness of our End Polio Now campaign.

By supporting the 2026 RPM Motorcycle ride, your donation will be double matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, turning each dollar donated into three!

You can also follow them on the ride by liking their Facebook page and support them along the 800 mile South Texas route throughout the Rotary District 5930.
